SSCM-Announce
The Society of Seventeenth-Century Music maintains an electronic news and announcement list for both members and non-members interested in seventeenth-century music, across the globe. It welcomes, for example, announcements of publications and future conferences. All former subscribers to SSCM-L (ca. 450 international recipients) have automatically been enrolled on the SSCM-Announce mailing list. (SSCM-L has been retired.) For new subscribers wishing to receive announcements and other messages, send a request to secretary@sscm-sscm.org
Postings will continue to be moderated to keep out spam and commercial announcements and to maintain a focus on information and topics related to all aspects of the study and performance of music in seventeenth century. Such information may include:
- Official SSCM announcements and documents
- News about SSCM publications
- Announcements of new or updated databases
- Announcements of regional and national meetings, conferences, lectures, workshops and other
- Events concerned with any aspect of 17th-century music, including concerts and productions
- Announcements of awards and grants
- Employment opportunities that include music of the 17th-century in the job description
- Notices of new recordings, audio and video releases and other materials, with links to the sites for viewing or for orders. (Do not include online order pages in your post.)
- Obituaries
- Requests for roommates at conferences
- Corrections or updates to pertinent publications, queries about or errors found in editions
Posting messages
Anyone may transmit a post, including non-subscribers, but transmission on SSCM-Announce must be requested. To post a message to the list, use this address secretary@sscm-sscm.org
For each post, fill in the subject line with a descriptive title.
At the end of the post, include your full name, institutional affiliation, and a version of your complete e-mail address. Your operational e-mail address will be included in the body of the post, so that you may receive responses to the post.
If sales are associated with certain types of announcements (e.g., tickets, CDs), direct the readers to the appropriate postal or digital address via a hyperlink.
To send a reply to a post
- To send a reply to a post to go out to the entire list, use this address secretary@sscm-sscm.org retaining the original subject line. At the end, include your full name, institutional affiliation and a version of your e-mail address. Your operational e-mail address will go out in the body of the post.
- To send a reply to a post ONLY to the original poster, reply to the email address included in the body of the message.
